I have included a video of my ted talk style presentation about yoga because it demonstrates my public speaking and presentation skills. I gave this presentation in my minor’s Advanced Public Speaking course, and my audience included my professor and classmates–most of which are soon-to-be college graduates. Hence, I included information that they might resonate with. For example, I said that practicing yoga can help individuals be in the present, and not get overwhelmed with thoughts about the future like “what will I do when I graduate?”
Furthermore, I created simple slides using PowerPoint–projected behind me during my talk–to mostly draw attention to my words. At one point during my presentation, I even turned off the slides to have my audience fully focus on what I was saying. Other strategies I implemented to make my presentation engaging are eye contact with my audience, and variety such as minimal pacing, hand gestures, and intonation. Finally, during the Q&A portion of my presentation, I demonstrate my ability to answer questions using what I know while on the spot.
